Skilled CNC Horizontal Machining Centre Programmer/Operator

Location: Middlesbrough,
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £37,000–£45,000 per year + overtime & benefits

My Client is an award-winning subcontract machining facility based in Teesside who specialise in bespoke machining operations and complete turn-key engineering project solutions. This is supported by a CAD/CAM design and manufacturing facility and Faro Arm inspection capability.

They supply precision components to a wide range of industries, including:
Marine • Mining • Oil & Gas • Petrochemical • Steel Foundry • Nuclear

The Role

Due to continued growth, we are seeking a highly skilled CNC Machinist to program and operate a Horizontal Machining Centre. This is a key role within our production team, offering excellent earning potential and long-term career development.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Ability to work independently and interpret engineering drawings to ISO 9001:2015 quality standards
• Minimum qualification: BTEC & NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent time-served Mechanical Engineer
• Proven ability to program, set, and operate CNC machines from drawings and instructions
• Experience with Fanuc controls advantageous (training provided if required)
• Ability to set tool offsets
• Competence in inspecting work using standard measuring equipment
• Experience cutting exotic materials such as phosphor bronze, duplex, and Inconel
• Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to support colleagues and supervisors to improve production, efficiency, and safety
• Lead Hand capability: assisting with job planning, tooling issues, and general production support
